FY2008 Global Revenue
Diabetes accounted for $1.0 billion, or 7%, of Medtronic's $13.5 billion in revenue in FY2008.

Diabetes is our fifth-largest business. For more than 25 years, we've been making technology, such as insulin pumps, to help people with diabetes manage their glucose levels and avoid potential complications.

We also developed the only integrated diabetes management systems that combine the power of insulin pump therapy with continuous glucose monitoring. Integrating these technologies is a step toward the development of a "closed-loop" insulin delivery system that may one day mimic some functions of the human pancreas.

Our innovations reflect expertise in these key areas of diabetes management medical technology:

  • Insulin delivery systems that provide an alternative to multiple daily injections to deliver life-saving insulin therapy.
  • Continuous glucose monitoring devices that monitor the body's glucose levels up to 288 times a day.
  • Data management software to help patients and their healthcare providers track and manage your glucose levels..
